The frosty mornings have bought some vivid sunrises. That's not a terracotta front on Ravenswell. The entire place has grey slate hanging tiles. The colour comes from a big reddish yellow thing rising out over the sea.

It's terrible, but it is possible to become blase about The Train of Lights. Although a full moon does add a little something.

My favourite pic of the month, as usual for my favourite pix it contains mist and sun. And, in this case, a boat.

We have a metal storage box in the garden. Look what a beautiful mess the frost made of it.

And look what a beautiful mess a bird made by colliding with our window. It must have hurt. Looks like Albert Enstein to me.

These two boats were out mackerel fishing for hours at a time on a couple of the coldest days so far. They must have froze too.

Thinking this was an OTB on the right - an Officer Training Boat - I had a joke prepared that an OTB would now be known as an Original Tow Boat. And then I realised that this isn't an OTB. It's a Sandquay general runaround. Probably called 'Old Tug Boat'.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex took the salute at the Passing Out Parade and these two Royal Navy Merlins did a few flypasts. This pic shows them behind the college, but there's loads more pix inside if its whirlybirds you want to see.

Another shot of the two Merlins on their flypast of the BRNC Passing Out Parade. It was clearly so balmy that day they had the doors open to let some fresh air in. They must have froze.

Fireworks at BRNC for the Winter Ball following Passing Out Parade earlier in the week. The display was great except.......the low level fireworks created a huge smoke cloud which soon hid much of the lower explosions. But that just made me concentrate on the high level stuff. Quite pleased with this one.

LNG tankers are increasing common passing the end of the river. I wonder why that is ? This is Energy Liberty heading back to the US having unloaded at the Isle of Grain terminal. In the foreground is 18m motor vessel Seven of Mine heading east from Dartmouth
