Liquid sun. Twice a year (many will have heard this before) the sun rises over the sea as viewed from The Dartmouth Office. By moving to the extreme eastern spot in our garden it was just possible to see this beaut come up and with the optical illusion caused by refraction, or some such magical mystery, it appears to be very reluctant to leave the horizon.

This is taken Sunday. On Monday this eucalyptus tree which has been progressing into our view for about five years finally comes down. The trunk had developed a fungus type rot. It is being replaced by another, more slow growing native species.

It's an LNG tanker called Shinshu Maru travelling from Dunkirk to Port Manatee in Florida. Its 299.99 meter length is likely travelling empty as the Florida port is where Liquid Natural Gas would have been loaded.
